On Wednesday, Union Minister Suresh Gopi told the Kerala High Court that the Censor Board certified the movie “Janaki vs State of Kerala (JSK),” in which he appears, on July 11, 2025. Later this week is now the new release date for the movie.

Given this development, Justice N. Nagaresh noted that the court was closing the petition since the petitioner, the film’s production company, had their main issue addressed.
The court further stated that the substance of the film or the use of an earlier teaser with its original title would not legally hurt or prejudice the petitioner, given the particular circumstances under which the amended version of the film was certified.
The court declared that “no legal claim can be made against the petitioner in this regard.”
Following a minor title change to “JSK Janaki vs. State of Kerala” by the film’s producers, Cosmos Entertainments, and the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) recommendation that the name “Janaki” be muted or replaced in specific scenes, the film was approved by the Censor Board.
The CBFC suggested these modifications.
On July 9, the directors acknowledged that it would be challenging to rebrand the movie so soon before its premiere. They did, however, ultimately accept the modifications after the board remained adamant about the title change. Kerala High Court
The film, which stars Anupama Parameswaran and was directed by Praveen Narayanan, chronicles a woman’s fight for justice after being brutally attacked.
