The call began when RJD MLA Bhai Virendra contacted the village secretary in his constituency to inquire about the status of a death certificate

Bhai Virendra: The scenario that followed was reminiscent of one from the online series Panchayat. An audio recording of the heated debate that occurred during a local phone call between Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Bhai Virendra and a village secretary in Maner has now gone popular on social media.

Innocently, it began when the MLA called the village official to enquire about the status of a death certificate. The secretary kindly requested the caller’s name, though, as she was unable to identify the caller.

The MLA angrily retorted, “You don’t know Bhai Virendra? Have you seriously never heard of Bhai Virendra from Maner? Do you want me to say hello?

“Once you introduce yourself, I’ll know who you are,” the secretary replied coolly.

Bhai Virendra said sarcastically, obviously annoyed, “Are you from England or what? Do you not know the Maner MLA? Everyone in the nation is familiar with me!

“Yes, sir, go ahead,” the secretary said, trying to maintain her decorum.

This infuriated the MLA even more, and he threatened the government official, saying, “Yes, sir, go ahead. I’ll use a shoe to beat you. Take note of this and use it however you see fit. You claim not to know Bhai Virendra, even though the entire nation is aware of who I am. On the call, you ought to have given me a decent greeting!

Following that, the MLA stated that Avinash Kumar, Rinki Devi’s husband, had applied for a death certificate. “Complete it. A long time ago, the application was submitted. Avoid doing subpar work. Act like you work for the government,” he advised.

When the secretary calmly assured the MLA that he wasn’t scared of him, saying, “If you speak to me respectfully, I’ll do the same,” the scene became heated. I don’t fear you, so do as you please. If you act rudely, I’ll do the same. Nobody is scared here.

Bhai Virendra was even more enraged by this. He retorted, “You have no right to hold this position if you don’t even know the local MLA.”

“Go ahead and transfer me,” the secretary said.

In response, Bhai Virendra said menacingly, “Transfer? A simple transfer won’t be enough; that’s too minor a result. From where do you hail?

Unfazed, the secretary answered, “Just discuss the work with me. We’ve already handled your request. You’ll be notified when it’s finished. Then he hung up.
