May 26, New Delhi (PTI): Byju’s Learning App Remove
Due to non-payment of debts to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Byju’s Learning App was taken down from the Google Play Store, a significant blow to Byju’s, the struggling edtech giant, has had its main learning app removed from Google Play. However, it continues to be available for download on the Apple App Store. Interestingly, other apps under the Byju’s umbrella — such as Byju’s Premium and Byju’s Exam Prep — are still live and functional on the Google Play Store.
Sources claim that since April of last year, AWS has been attempting to settle payment disputes with Think and Learn Pvt Ltd, the main business that operates under the Byju name.
A source told PTI:
Due to unpaid invoices owed to AWS, which provides the backend services for the app, the Byju’s Learning App has been removed from the Google Play Store. An Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) is currently in charge of managing the business and is in charge of handling all payment-related matters.
Attempts to reach Shailendra Ajmera, the Insolvency Resolution Professional (IRP) managing Think and Learn, received no response.
Those with knowledge of the situation stated that: “Other apps that are under the control of various service providers continue to operate as intended.” Both the Byju’s Exam Prep App and the Byju’s Premium Learning App are currently accessible through the Google Play Store.

When contacted, an AWS spokesperson stated:
“AWS and Think and Learn Pvt Ltd have been collaborating since April 2024 to settle the unpaid sum on their AWS account. We are optimistic that the issue can be settled. Furthermore, we are unable to comment on any other technology providers’ actions pertaining to the BYJU’S app.
Students in grades 4 through 12 can access educational materials on math, physics, chemistry, and biology through the Byju’s Learning App. Sixth through eighth students can also take social studies. By providing useful information and advice, the app also assists students in preparing for highly competitive tests like JEE, NEET, and IAS.
The software is still accessible through the Apple software Store even if it is no longer available on Google Play.
In response to appeals from investors, including lender-authorized agency GLAS Trust, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has filed for bankruptcy against Byju’s.
