On Wednesday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared that voter photo identity cards (EPICs) will be distributed within 15 days of the voter list being updated. This effort aims to improve service delivery convenience and efficiency while also allowing EPICs to be tracked in real time. It currently takes more than a month for voters to obtain their EPICs. How Does Real-Time EPIC Tracking Work?
• The system provides real-time tracking of EPICs from generation to delivery, keeping voters updated on their card’s progress.
• SMS Notifications: Voters receive updates at every stage of the process for openness and accountability.
• The ECI has established a dedicated IT module on the ECI-Net platform that integrates with the postal department’s API for seamless delivery.
• The new technology streamlines processes and improves service delivery while protecting data security.
