Israel Apologizes for Posting Inaccurate Map Showing Parts of India as Pakistan
Late Friday night, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) shared a map on social media site X (previously Twitter), sparking a huge uproar. Part of a tweet that called Iran a “global threat,” the map misrepresented India’s international borders by claiming that Jammu & Kashmir was a part of Pakistan.
Indian people on X expressed their disapproval of this, pointing out the mistake and urging the IDF to take down the post. Many users went as far as tagging Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their comments. One post from the ‘Indian Right Wing Community’ caught the IDF’s attention, prompting a direct reply from them.
Israel Apologizes
“The purpose of this post was to depict an area. International borders weren’t depicted on the map appropriately. We deeply regret if our actions have caused any offense. About ninety minutes after the initial post, this apology was made. This is exactly why India chooses to stay neutral,” remarked one Indian user. There are no actual pals in diplomacy.
Israel Apologises: The Indian government has not yet formally addressed the inaccurate map.
Parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are unlawfully held by China and Pakistan, but India has always claimed that they are essential components of the nation. In May, Prime Minister Modi reiterated this in the wake of Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror assault.
Israel Apologizes: India and Israel have developed a solid and cordial friendship over time. The first Indian politician to travel to Israel was Prime Minister Modi in 2017. After the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and China, Delhi is currently one of Tel Aviv’s biggest trading partners, and this trade is growing significantly. One of the largest purchasers of Israeli military hardware is India.
Given these intimate connections, many Indians were taken aback when an erroneous map was shown. Israel Apologizes
The IDF posted the contentious image that sparked the outcry on Friday night, highlighting their belief that Iran poses a “global threat”. In the wake of the October 7 Hamas strikes and Israel’s reaction, tensions between Iran and Israel are rising, raising the possibility of another war in West Asia.

In a menacing tweet, the IDF said:
“Iran poses a menace to the world. This is only the beginning; Israel is not the end goal. We were forced to take action.
Most of Asia, including West Asia, North Africa, Europe, and India, had erroneously drawn borders on the disputed map. The map featured red concentric circles radiating from Iran, illustrating the reach of its missiles to countries like Saudi Arabia, Libya, Ethiopia, India, China, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. Numerous Indian users had harsh reactions. Netanyahu was tagged in one, who demanded that the message be “deleted, corrected, and reposted”. Israel has come under fire from others for underestimating the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers who have protected the country’s territorial integrity.
Israel’s largest-ever offensive to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons has preceded this most recent wave of tensions between Israel and Iran. In response, Iran fired dozens of missiles, some of which were intercepted with U.S. help, according to Israeli sources.
Israel Apologizes:
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have each sent each other stern threats. Netanyahu forewarned Iran that “there is much more to come” in retaliation to their missile launches, while Khamenei accused Israel of starting a conflict. Israel Apologizes
