Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa Crosses ₹15 Crore on Day 2 Despite Minor Dip, Outperforms Big Releases

Vishnu Manchu’s highly awaited mythological action drama Kannappa has raced past the ₹15 crore mark within just two days of its release, despite a slight dip in earnings. The movie has done better than previous big releases this week and continues to attract steady crowds in all locations, with Telugu-speaking areas seeing the most success.

Brief Highlights:

  • On Day 1, Kannappa made ₹9.35 crore, and on Day 2, he made ₹7 crore.
  • surpassed Brad Pitt’s F1 and Kajol’s Maa at the box office.
  • On course to become the highest-grossing movie that Vishnu Manchu has ever made

On its second day in cinemas, Kannappa, which was released on Friday, was well welcomed.  Brad Pitt’s action-packed F1 and Kajol’s Maa, two other major debuts this week, have been surpassed by the Telugu-language religious movie.

Sacnilk, a tracking website, estimates that the movie made ₹9.35 crore on its first day of release and ₹7 crore on Saturday, for a total domestic box office receipt of about ₹16.35 crore.  In every region, the film’s attendance remained consistent.

Cast and Performance in the Region

Stars Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, and Mohanlal made cameo appearances in the mythical action movie Kannappa.  With a 44.42% occupancy rate on Saturday, Telugu regions have enjoyed especially good box office results for the film.  The occupancy rate for morning shows was 27%, and at night it increased to 58.54%.

The movie had a respectable 19.84% occupancy rate in Tamil Nadu, particularly during afternoon and evening screenings.  With 5.81% occupancy, the response was more subdued in Malayalam-speaking areas, but it did significantly improve at night.

The story of Thinnadu, a tribal hunter who turns into a devout disciple of Lord Shiva, is told in Kannappa, which was directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh.  He gives his eyeballs as a sacrifice to halt the bleeding from a Shiva lingam in the story’s stirring act of devotion.

Backed by a powerhouse ensemble featuring Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, and others, the film gains an added layer of impact and star appeal. Sarathkumar, Madhoo, Preity Mukundhan, Mukesh Rishi, Brahmaji, and Brahmanandam, Vishnu Manchu play the title character.  The movie is now doing best in Telugu; however, it has been released in Hindi and all of the main South Indian languages.

Kannappa

The Best Vishnu Manchu Has Ever Had

Vishnu Manchu’s *Kannappa* is steadily heading toward becoming the highest-grossing film of his career.  His earlier films, such as Ginna and Mosagallu, didn’t even make 1 crore throughout their tenure in theatres.  Rowdy, which made ₹3 crore on Day 1 and ₹11 crore in its first week, was his final respectable opening of 2014.

Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Sarathkumar, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, Mohan Babu, Arpit Ranka, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji, Shiv Balaji, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, Mukesh Rishi, Raghu Babu, and Madhoo are among the film’s formidable cast members.

The compelling story of a hunter who turns into a ferocious follower of Lord Shiva is told by Kannappa. Akshay Kumar brings Lord Shiva to life on screen, with Kajal Aggarwal portraying the graceful Goddess Parvati and Prabhas embodying the fierce and mighty Rudra. The movie has had mixed reviews thus far, and how well it does this weekend will be a major factor in determining how it does at the box office.
