On Day Two of His Gujarat Visit, PM Modi Links Pahalgam Terror Attack to 1947 Partition Decision

PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on his second day in Gujarat that each time India and Pakistan have fought a battle, the Indian military—our valiant soldiers—had beaten them so handily that it has left a lasting impression they will never be able to forget.

PM Modi blamed the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which murdered 26 people, largely tourists, on the 1947 Partition on May 27.  Speaking at a Gandhinagar celebration honouring Gujarat’s urban progress for two decades, he added,

“The links should have been totally broken when Partition occurred in 1947.  Instead, the country ended up being divided into three separate parts.  Pakistan occupied part of Kashmir shortly after the first terror strike occurred there.  He added,

“Things would have turned out differently if we had followed Sardar Patel’s advice to keep our army moving until the PoK was reclaimed and had killed those Mujahideen then.”  PM Modi described the Pahalgam incident as a twisted result of that initial act of aggression, noting that the suffering endured over the previous 75 years culminated in it.  “Our military has consistently outperformed Pakistan.  They see today that they cannot defeat India,” he added..

Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliation : PM Modi

In what is now known as Operation Sindoor, India initiated precision attacks on at least nine terror facilities in Pakistan on May 7, two weeks after the Pahalgam event.  After four days of armed activity, the two countries decided to cease operations on May 10.  Prime Minister Modi had earlier in the day laid the groundwork and inaugurated a number of ₹5,536 crore development projects in Gandhinagar. Today marked the second day of his visit to Gujarat.

“If You’re in a War, Expect a Response”

PM Modi reaffirmed that Indian forces consistently delivered catastrophic losses in conflicts between India and Pakistan.  He clarified, “They switched to proxy wars—supporting terrorists with training and logistics—after realising they couldn’t win through direct war.”  However, Modi stressed that, particularly in light of the events of May 6, such actions can no longer be viewed as “proxy wars.”

The Pakistan Army saluted the deceased terrorists with their guns while they were covered in Pakistani flags.  That is a purposeful, well-thought-out military strategy, not a proxy war.  He said,  It will be addressed as such because this is war.  We don’t look for animosity. We wish to live in peace and make progress so we can contribute to the betterment of the world.

India’s Rise as a Global Economic Power : PM Modi

When Modi looked back on India’s economic history, he remembered that the country was ranked eleventh in the world economy in 2014, the year he was appointed prime minister.  Our economy is currently the fourth largest in the world.  We celebrated going from sixth to fifth place, and it was particularly significant because we had passed the nation that had governed us for 250 years.

PM Modi stated that the goal to make India the third-largest economy is much more resolute now that the country has risen to fourth place.  This nation has had enough of waiting.  In the background, you can hear people saying, “Modi hai to mumkin hai” (if Modi is present, it’s doable) if someone offers patience.  He ended with a specific goal:  “By 2047, we want India to be a developed country.”
