Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks, according to BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha, show that he was fully aware of his brother-in-law Robert Vadra’s “shady dealings” and may have even been involved himself.
On Friday, July 18, 2025, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the government was hatching a conspiracy against his brother-in-law, Robert Vadra—a statement that immediately triggered a strong response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress leader’s comments, according to the party, demonstrate that his party still has an “emergency-era mindset” and disdains the legal system.
Following the filing of a chargesheet against Vadra by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case involving purported irregularities in a land purchase in Shikohpur, Haryana, Rahul Gandhi made the statement.
Speaking for the BJP, Tuhin Sinha claimed that Gandhi’s comments demonstrated his complete knowledge of his brother-in-law’s illicit activities and that he may have been involved in them himself.
In the Sanjay Bhandari case, Robert Vadra appears before the ED.
Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also ridiculed by Tuhin Sinha, who said that Gandhi had threatened to arrest a sitting chief minister.
Speaking at a press conference at the New Delhi BJP headquarters, Sinha stated:
“The Congress has no regard for judicial or investigative processes, as evidenced by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks regarding Robert Vadra and, more recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.”
He went on to say that the Congress continues to function with the same mentality that it did during the 21-month Emergency that Indira Gandhi proclaimed on June 25, 1975.
According to Sinha, “The Congress still believes in the same manipulative tactics it used fifty years ago.”

Robert Vadra is defended by Rahul Gandhi in the ED chargesheet.
Additionally, Sinha noted that CM Sarma is an elected official who is not facing any accusations.
He questioned, “Mr. Gandhi, are you saying that people can be imprisoned without proof?”
While CM Sarma may consider himself a king, Rahul Gandhi asserted during a meeting with party workers in Chaygaon, Assam, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, that the state’s citizens will imprison him for corruption.
