Aamir Khan‘s upcoming film, Sitare Zameen Par, will be released in theatres on June 20, and the producers are said to have issued a full list of rules with theatre owners ahead of time.
Sitare Zameen Par, which continues Aamir Khan’s continuing efforts to promote cinema over OTT, is scheduled to make its theatrical debut. According to advance booking data, the picture is likely to get off to a good—if not exceptional—start on day one.
Advance Bookings and Show Count
Advance bookings are already available. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film will be shown in more than 6,000 theatres across India. By Thursday morning, the film had sold 38,756 tickets for 6,128 shows across all platforms, earning ₹99.7 lakh from ticket sales.
Based on the number of blocked tickets, Sitare Zameen Par is expected to earn approximately ₹3.61 crore on its first day.

Top-Performing Regions
The Delhi region now generates the most revenue from advance bookings, followed by Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, and Gujarat. The film had the most screenings in major cities such as Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Sitare Zameen Par is set to release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, ensuring it reaches and resonates with a wider and more diverse audience.
How it compares to Aamir’s previous releases.
The film’s advance booking numbers are still a far way from matching the buzz surrounding Aamir’s past big-ticket releases, Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), both of which had good early box office performances.
However, it is worth noting that Sitare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par that was produced on a considerably smaller budget. Its success will be primarily determined by Aamir’s team’s new releasing techniques and how well audiences respond.
New Release Strategy for “Sitare Zameen Par”
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, producers and distributors have distributed a full set of release criteria to exhibitors.
Once Sitare Zameen Par was approved by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), the distributors sent out uniform distribution instructions to cinemas across India.
Key guidelines include:
The film cannot be screened before 9:00 a.m., assuring a simultaneous release in all theatres across the country.
Cinemas are directed to charge popular weekend prices, which are slightly higher than usual but not at blockbuster levels. Aamir Khan has reportedly opted for affordable premium pricing to ensure the film remains accessible to a broader range of viewers.
According to the report:
Sitare Zameen Par can only be shown in single-screen cinemas during the day. Multiplexes have a set number of daily shows dependent on their screen count, with venues with 10 or more screens displaying up to 31 every day.
