Two days before the much-anticipated festival was scheduled to start, a large fire started on the main stage of Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, on the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The fire’s precise cause is still a mystery. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries.
Online videos showed the stage, which is well-known for its incredibly intricate and unusual design, engulfed in flames. Before 8 PM, the fire was contained, according to the local daily GVA. Emergency services responded quickly and dealt with the incident effectively.
While some crew members were on-site getting ready for the event, a Euronews investigation verified that no festival attendees were there when the incident occurred. As a safety precaution, residents in the area were urged to keep their windows and doors closed.
On social media, there were also rumours that the festival had been cancelled. But the organisers quickly brushed those allegations aside as “fake news” and made it clear that no such choice had been made.
“Our beloved stage has suffered extensive damage due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage,” Tomorrowland said in an Instagram statement. We certify that no injuries were recorded. Additionally, we certify that DreamVille (the campground) will open as scheduled tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, and be completely prepared to receive all DreamVille guests. All Global Journey experiences scheduled in Antwerp and Brussels will take place as planned, without any changes.
“We are now concentrating on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday-Saturday-Sunday),” they continued. We’ll provide more thorough details and updates as soon as we can.

One of the biggest electronic music events in the world, Tomorrowland, got its start in 2005. Last year, nearly 400,000 people from around the globe came together to be part of the event.
