The latest Mission: Impossible instalment is quickly closing in on overtaking the domestic earnings of *Dead Reckoning Part One*, with projections suggesting it will do so by next weekend at the latest. Meanwhile, the film has already scored a major win in Japan—surpassing *Minecraft: The Movie* to become the top-grossing Hollywood release of 2025 in the country.

Even though How to Train Your Dragon took the top place, the movie still had a strong box office performance.  The film officially entered the Top 20 highest-grossing Hollywood films in China since COVID-19 after earning 1 million in just 17 days.

It Outperforms the Croods and Sees the Next Prey

Mission: Impossible 8 has officially entered the ranks of the top 20 highest-grossing Hollywood films in China since the COVID era, … overtaking *The Croods: A New Age*, which had pulled in \$54.6 million at the Chinese box office. This achievement further cements the film’s remarkable box office momentum. Soul, which made 3 million in China, is the next movie it is set to surpass.  When it does, MI8 will move up to the 19th position.

Update on Global Collection

 Despite fewer theatres and IMAX screens (554 less), the movie made $3 billion in North America this past weekend.  Its foreign gross has reached 0.5 million, while its North American total is currently 6.3 million.

That surpasses the 0 million mark and raises the global box office total to an incredible 6.8 million.
